Mental Wellbeing

F O R   W O M E N

Hi...

W E   K N O W  I T  I S  H A R D .

If you are here, perusing this website, you might be seeking support for yourself or someone you care about.  This may be your very first step toward healing, and we are here for it. Our therapists offer evidence-based support for folks struggling with symptoms of depression, shame, anxiety, OCD, trauma, bipolar disorder, panic, grief, unresolved rage, sexual distress, and relational challenges. By learning to work with the amygdala, the brain’s natural threat radar, our clients learn to readily identify their survival responses and reactions, understand what drives their feelings and thoughts (*which are simply electrical impulses!), and heal from symptoms rooted in trauma and/or shame.

We want to help you cultivate awareness, insight, and - ultimately -  change. Our approach digs under the surface to heal the wound, rather than cover it superficially.

A favorite poet of Dr. Flores, Kalen Dion, writes:

“Yes,

You will rise from the ashes,

But the burning comes first.

For this part,

Darling,

You must be brave.”

Let's rise.

Protocol

  1. We will screen for conditions, experiences, brain style, and trauma, to rule in / rule out other factors.

  2. We will holistically assess the function/impact of the presenting concerns and symptoms (exogenous or endogenous).

  3. We will have an open dialogue with you about your needs and strive to understand your lived experience through interventions (i.e., externalization).

  4. We provide you with coping skills aligned with how you learn and process information.

  5. We will support you and offer these promises during your journey:

    • We will never dismiss your pain.

    • We will honor what you say, feel, and experience.

    • We will listen with intent and lead with an ethical and humanistic disposition.

    • ...and we may integrate some appropriate,  intellectual humor into our work with you because we know that playfulness can feel more like an invitation than an interrogation!
