"It is necessary to own and honor the child who we were in order to love the person we are. And the only way to do that is to own that child's experiences, honor that child's feelings, and release the emotional grief energy that we are still carrying around." - Robert Burney
Reclamation of Wonder: Inner Child Trauma Therapy
Several of our therapists are trained in humanistic sandtray as well as Play Therapy. We work with adults who have experienced childhood abuse, neglect, sexual harm leading to reactive attachment and PTSD.
We take an approach that invites the rediscovery of play, curiosity, and imagination. Many of our patients were robbed of their childhood. We gently encourage patients as they engage in corrective emotional experiences through play, creativity, curiosity, and, most importantly, they rediscover a sense of wonder.
An inner child therapeutic approach is trauma-infused, neuro-affirming, and humanistic. Here are some signs that your inner child may have unmet needs and needs healing:

-
Increased / high reactivity
-
Overvaluing independence across contexts, especially in relationships

Chronic perfectionism

lack of intrinsic motivation
-
avoidance / urges to isolate
-

-
emotional dysregulation
