Secrecy + Silence = Shame
W E A R E P R O U D O F Y O U .
If you are here, perusing this website, you might be seeking support for yourself or someone you care about. This may be your very first step in deconstructing shame or healing from a traumatic past or recent distressing experience.
T H E I S S U E...
Society does not make it easy for you to show any sort of vulnerability. You may feel that you are forced to wear armor everywhere you go. That armor stays on at work, in relationships, and even when you are by yourself. It can start to feel lonely.
In therapy, you will work toward feeling safe enough to slowly remove the armor that keeps you from healing.
Our therapists offer evidence-based support for folks struggling with symptoms of depression, shame, anxiety, OCD, trauma, bipolar disorder, panic, grief, unresolved rage, sexual distress, and relational distress. By learning to work with the amygdala, the brain’s natural threat radar, our clients learn to readily identify their survival responses and reactions, understand what drives their feelings and thoughts (*which are simply electrical impulses!), and heal from symptoms rooted in trauma and/or shame.
A favorite poet of Dr. Flores, Kalen Dion, writes:
“Someone begging for their humanity to be acknowledged can sound an awful lot like rage.”
